COACH

It’s not just for the twenty-something year olds!   I am 38 and mother of 3 and I am in the best shape of my life and far better than when I was 20.  I have never done anything competitive.  I am not a gymnast, not a track star and have never done weight lifting training.  I have always felt I could be good at something, always felt that I wanted to be part of something just never knew what.

I joined Crossfit about 2 years ago and joined Crossfit Free in January 2012.  I was introduced to it from a friend, also a CFF member, who I thank daily for giving me what I consider to be the greatest passion I have ever had.  Although I’ve been with Crossfit for 2 years, it wasn’t until I joined Crossfit Free that I started to truly feel connected and started seeing real results.  I could hands down say this was due to coaches who care enough about me to not just let me “do the WOD” or “lift to get a PR” or “get the fastest time” but who teach me proper technique and form so I get stronger and faster without risking injury.   I also need to give credit to myself for sticking it out and giving it my all each and every time.  Patting yourself on the back is hard at times but certainly if I didn’t want to feel great, I wouldn’t.  Fast forward 9 months at CFF and I’m now getting my feet wet doing group competitions.  Considering I could not do a kipping pull up, I was pretty weak lifting weights and my cardio needed lots of work it’s amazing to see how far I have come. I am not working out 7 days a week (although would be so great if I could).  I average 4 days a week (more, if I can, if training for an upcoming competition) but give it my all each day.  I don’t have all the time in the world and do have a family so time is limited but I fit it in when I can and I make it work.  I am almost lifting double my body weight in some areas, I can almost do 30 pull-ups for a max, I have reduced my times in WODS significantly and I can run faster than ever before but just as important I have had the most fun getting to this point.  It wasn’t always easy but certainly rewarding.  I’m for sure addicted but the best kind of addiction!

My 3 year old daughter for the last almost year of her life has grow up, and been welcomed, in the Crossfit Free environment and I hope one day to be beside her in her first WOD!   I consider Crossfit Free part of my life and the community part of my family and by far one the best decisions I ever made was attending the Crossfit Free open house in January.
